Child accidentally shot in Bangor

Police in Bangor said a 3-year-old child was hospitalized after what neighbors described as an apparently accidental shooting in the family apartment. Authorities said they received a 911 call shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday reporting a shooting at a Bald Mountain Drive apartment house. Officials said the child was taken to an emergency room. Sergeant Catherine Rumsey said Thursday that the shooting was an isolated incident that police were investigating. Neighbor Sandra Smith told WABI-TV that she thought the toddler was accidentally shot in the neck.
