A woman who died Sunday morning after being caught in the surf on a beach in Provincetown has been identified as a New York resident who frequently visited the town for leisure, officials said. Donna L. Pawlowski, 51, of Rexford, N.Y., was found dead on the beach near Race Point Lighthouse in Provincetown at about 9 a.m. Sunday, police said. “Preliminary investigation would suggest it was an accidental death,” said First Assistant District Attorney Michael Trudeau of the Cape & Islands district attorney’s office. “However, the investigation remains open pending an autopsy.” Pawlowski was visiting Provincetown with family at the time.
