Body of woman, 83, found in Pawcatuck River


The body of an 83-year-old woman has been found in the Pawcatuck River in Westerly. The Westerly Sun reported that she was found near a marina at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday. Police identified her Monday morning as Giuseppa Ferraro of Westerly. They said that there is no indication of foul play and that they are investigating to determine whether it was an accident. The woman’s body was found by a man walking his dog. A witness told police he had seen the woman sitting on the grass near the entry to the marina around 1 p.m. Saturday.
