Three years after he was appointed as Somerville’s police chief, Thomas Pasquarello has announced he is resigning to attend to a family member in need of around-the-clock care. Pasquarello submitted a letter of resignation Monday that was accepted by Mayor Joseph Curtatone, according to a statement from the city Monday evening. Pasquarello was appointed as the chief of the department in August 2010 after serving as a federal Drug Enforcement Agency regional director based in Thailand. He had previously served as a DEA agent in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
