The westbound lanes of the Massachusetts Turnpike in Palmer were closed this afternoon following a fiery truck crash on the road, State Police said
The truck, a flatbed hauling concrete, crashed and the cab of the truck caught fire, which then spread to the woodland and drainage system next to the highway, State Police said.
State Police briefly shut down the eastbound side of the Pike so the fire could be suppressed.
Westbound traffic was diverted off the interstate highway at Exit 9, State Police said. The right lane and breakdown lane were opened again at around 4 p.m. The left lane remained closed for crash investigation, State Police said.
No injuries were reported.
State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
