Providence seeks Christmas tree nominations

Providence is looking for a Christmas tree, and it is asking residents for help. The city announced this week that residents with an unwanted spruce or fir tree on their property may nominate it to be the City Hall Christmas tree. The city agrees to cut down and haul away the winning evergreen at no cost to the owner. The owner will be photographed with the tree and Mayor Angel Taveras. To be eligible, the tree must be 35 to 45 feet tall. Nominations must be received by Tuesday. The city has scheduled a tree lighting ceremony for Saturday, Dec. 7.
