Vote recount in mayor’s race set for Saturday

An end to the contentious Lawrence mayoral race may be in sight. The city has set Saturday as the date for a recount of the more than 15,000 ballots cast on Election Day, lawyers for both candidates said. William Lantigua, the incumbent, trails City Councilor Daniel Rivera by about 60 votes. Rivera declared victory on election night and had urged Lantigua not to seek a recount. The recount will occur at 10 a.m. Saturday in the South Lawrence East School, said the lawyers, Sal Tabit and David Torrisi.
