Scott Brown to headline GOP event in N.H.

Former US senator Scott Brown will headline the New Hampshire GOP holiday dinner this month, furthering speculation that he is considering a run for the Senate in that state.

The event, along with frequent visits to the Granite State, have fueled questions about Brown’s plans. On Tuesday, Brown also penned an opinion piece on calling the implementation of the Affordable Care Act a tale of “hypocrisy and double standards.”

National Republicans have pushed the former Massachusetts senator to declare his candidacy for the New Hampshire Senate seat now held by Democrat Jeanne Shaheen and insist he is seriously weighing such a run.

But a close friend and political ally told the Globe Tuesday that he is convinced that Brown will not run for the Senate.

Brown himself has remained coy about his plans. He has changed his Twitter handle from @ScottBrownMA to @SenScottBrown.

Tickets for the Dec. 19 event run from $50 a head to $2,500. The invitation for the event promises that “autographed copies of Senator Brown’s book, “Against All Odds,” are available to all VIP guests and to the first 50 individuals who RSVP for the general reception.”
