Spencer boy, 7, to be arraigned for assault and battery on another child

A 7-year-old boy from Spencer who police said stabbed a schoolmate with a pencil in October, injuring him so badly that he needed surgery, will face assault and battery charges, police said Friday. The boy, a student at the Wire Village School , attacked another 7-year-old boy during recess on Oct. 4, 2013, police said. Police said the victim was stabbed in the rectum while he lay on the ground and later needed surgery. The boy was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Dec. 30, 2013, and is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 21 in Worcester Juvenile Court.
