Autopsy finds that R.I. woman broke neck in Vermont ski crash

An autopsy indicates that a 19-year-old Rhode Island woman died of a broken neck when she skied into a trail signpost last week at Sugarbush Ski Resort. Police said Kendra Bowers lost control, skied off a trail, and crashed at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The University of Vermont sophomore was pronounced dead about an hour later at a hospital. The state medical examiner’s office said Bowers was wearing a helmet. She was a native of Newport and graduated from St. George’s School in 2012.
