Vt. mother charged with leaving child, 3, alone

A 24-year-old woman is facing charges that she left her 3-year-old child alone in an apartment in the northwestern Vermont city of St. Albans, authorities said. Police said they were called to a Lake Street apartment about 1 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report that the girl was alone. Ashley Langlois returned to the apartment about 20 minutes later, police said. They said Langlois was extremely intoxicated, tried to hit her boyfriend with a glass candle, and became combative and disorderly when police tried to arrest her. She was charged with cruelty to a child, domestic assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
