Small quake shakes the earth near New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD

A small earthquake struck Tuesday afternoon just outside New Bedford, the US Geological Survey said. The magnitude 2.4 temblor was centered 1 mile south-southwest of the Southeastern Massachusetts city, the USGS said. The quake was recorded at 5:46 p.m., the agency said.
