Beverly man charged with stealing city money

A Beverly man authorities say used his home computer to gain access to a city bank account and to steal nearly $63,000 has been charged with larceny and is being held on $100,000 bail. Ronald Ribeiro pleaded not guilty to 19 counts of felony larceny at his arraignment in Salem District Court. Authorities said Ribeiro, 30, used a home computer to take money from the city’s general warrant account via Western Union wire transfers in December and January. The Salem News reported that the transactions were discovered during the city Finance Department’s monthly account reconciliation.
