Carver police responded to a home on Craig Street at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday. A woman had called and said her son had stabbed her husband multiple times, prosecutors said.

When officers arrived, they found Cowen covered in what appeared to be blood. He had a large knife in his front pocket that appeared to have blood on the blade, prosecutors said.

Plympton officers at the scene found the suspect’s father, 56-year-old George Cowen, sitting in the kitchen. He appeared to have blood on his chest and hands, prosecutors said.

The father was taken to a Boston hospital for treatment of a stab wound to his neck and two wounds to his chest.

The younger Cowen was also charged with assault and battery in October after he allegedly attacked his father. His bail was revoked in that case, according to the clerk’s office.

He is being held on $100,000 cash bail in the Plymouth House of Correction. He is to return to court Thursday for a status hearing for both cases, the clerk said.
