A car crashed into a guardrail on northbound Interstate 93 in Andover on Tuesday after a short chase involving state troopers, said Lieutenant Daniel Richard, a State Police spokesman. State Police received calls just before 4 p.m. reporting an erratic driver on the highway, Richard said. A trooper tried to conduct a traffic stop, which the driver, identified only as a 67-year-old male from Malden, allegedly ignored. The trooper ended a brief pursuit for safety reasons, State Police said. Further along I-93, the trooper saw the same car, which had crashed into a guardrail near Dascomb Road. The driver was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, but his condition was not known Tuesday evening, Richard said.
