Person thrown from car in rollover crash on I-495

A person was thrown from a car and seriously injured in a rollover crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 495 in Westford Sunday afternoon, State Police said.

The victim was flown via MedFlight to a nearby hospital about 4 p.m., said a State Police spokeswoman. The nature and extent of the injuries were not immediately known, she said.

Both sides of I-495 were temporarily closed Sunday, causing traffic to back up. All southbound and northbound lanes were re-opened about 5:20 p.m. but residual delays remained.

Additional information about the accident were not immediately available. The investigation continues.
