Norwood teen badly hurt after being dragged by car

A Norwood teenager was seriously injured Friday after he was hit and dragged by a car in Dedham in an apparent act of road rage, according to Dedham police.

Police said they have few details on how the incident occurred or what the car looks like, and are asking the public to contact them with any information.

The teenager was reportedly dragged “a pretty good distance” by the car’s driver in the area of West Street at Lyons Street, according to several witnesses at a nearby park, said Dedham Police Officer Tim Miranda. However, no one saw what sparked the incident.

“We’re not sure how he came to be hit,” Miranda said. “There’s a dog park right near there, so a bunch of people caught it out of the corner of their eye, but there’s not a very good description.”

Miranda said police do not believe the driver was known to the victim.

Anyone with any information about the incident should call the Dedham Police Department at 781-751-9300.
