Harvard student injured from fall

A Harvard University student was critically injured in a fall from an off-campus building early Sunday morning, a spokesman for the university said.

Sophomore Andrew Sun was in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital Sunday night, spokesman Colin Manning said.

“This is a very difficult time for the entire Harvard community,” Manning said.

“The safety and the health of all of our students is of the utmost importance to us.”

Manning would not say where the building that Sun fell from was located, saying only that it was not on campus.

Cambridge police said the incident did not occur in their city.

Sun is a resident of the Pforzheimer House on campus, according to school officials.

The residence’s comaster, John Durant, said Pforzheimer House was holding a private gathering for Sun’s friends and family Sunday evening.

“College leaders have reached out to students at this time to remind them that Harvard has a comprehensive support system in place if they need assistance in light of this upsetting event,” Manning said.

Family, friends, and university officials spent the day with Sun in the hospital, according to Manning.

No further details about Sun’s condition or the circumstances surrounding his fall were available Sunday night.
