A former Waltham police officer pleaded guilty Thursday to possession of child pornography in US District Court in Boston, said US Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz’s office. Paul Manganelli, 47, was arrested in March 2013 and resigned from his position at the Waltham Police Department after the arrest, Ortiz’s office said. Federal agents found more than 850 images and 40 videos of child pornography in Manganelli’s possession and discovered that he had traded the content for more than two years with at least 53 e-mail accounts, Ortiz’s office said in a statement. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
