Man arrested for allegedly shooting fireworks from boat near Logan

A Winthrop man was arrested Monday evening for shooting fireworks from a boat near a Logan Airport runway, officials said.

Steven Hines, 52, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. after State Police found he was setting off fireworks from a boat in a Boston Harbor inlet between Winthrop and Runway 33R, State Police said.

No injuries or damage were reported.

State Police said Hines’ actions did not appear to pose a threat to any flights in and out of Logan.

When Hines was placed under arrest, troopers said they seized a large bag of fireworks, which are prohibited by state law.

In addition to already having an active warrant for his arrest, Hines was charged with unlawful possession of fireworks, and two equipment violations for his boat.
