A bicyclist was injured when he was hit by a garbage truck in Cambridge this morning, police said.

The bicyclist was struck by the truck at the corner of Inman and Harvard streets at about 8:20 a.m., said Cambridge police spokesman Jeremy Warnick. He said it appeared to have happened near a stop light, but did not have details of the crash.

The man on the bike was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with a leg injury, but is expected to survive, police said.

The driver of the truck did not leave the scene and is cooperating with police, Warnick said.
