Lawrence woman allegedly brought gun into court

A 66-year-old Lawrence woman was arrested Thursday when she arrived at Lawrence District Court carrying a loaded firearm, officials said.

Rosa Alicea was arraigned in the same courthouse on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and furnishing a false name, according to Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office.

Alicea allegedly first identified herself as Rosa Pagan when she was arrested, prosecutors said.

She pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail at least until next Tuesday, officials said.

A spokeswoman for the Trial Court, which manages the Fenton Judicial Center, said the gun was discovered by a court officer during routine screening of people entering the courthouse. The woman was not allowed into the courthouse proper, the Trial Court said.

Alicea was arrested by Lawrence police.
