One killed in three-alarm house fire in Holden

One person died in a three-alarm fire in Holden on Sunday, fire officials said.

Explosions were reported at 12:09 p.m. at 18 Farragut Way, which required several firefighters from surrounding towns to respond to the scene, officials said.

Fire Marshall Stephen Coan said one adult was discovered in the home after the fire was knocked down. There were no reported injuries to fire personnel, officials said.

“There were reports of some type of explosion in the building,” Coan said. “We might know more as the investigation continues and what caused it.”

No information was released about the person who died.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known and is under investigation by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
