Charlestown shooting victim, 17, dies

The 17-year-old victim of a Charlestown shooting has died, Boston police said.

Ryan Morrissey died this morning, according to post on the Facebook page of St. Clement School in Medford, where he was a student.

Police responded to a call about a person shot near 274 Main St. in Charlestown about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived they found Morrissey and a 19-year-old man suffering gun shot wounds, police said.

Both men were rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, police said. The 19-year-old is expected to survive, according Officer James Kenneally, a Boston police spokesman.

The Boston Police Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 617-343-4470.
