What’s open, closed on Veterans Day

Holiday observed: Tuesday.

Retail stores: Open at owner’s discretion after 1 p.m., unless retailer obtains permit to open earlier.

Liquor stores: Open at owner’s discretion.

Supermarkets: Open at owner’s discretion.

Convenience stores: Open at owner’s discretion.

Taverns, bars: Open at owner’s discretion.

Banks: Closed.

Stock market: Open.

Municipal, state, federal offices: Closed.

Libraries: Closed.

Schools: Closed.

Mail: Post offices closed; express delivery only.

MBTA: All modes of public transit will operate on a regular weekday schedule.

Boston traffic rules:

Parking meters are not in effect. All other parking rules apply.

Trash/recycling collection: Collections in Allston/Brighton, Dorchester, East Boston, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Roslindale, South Boston, West Roxbury and Hyde Park, will be delayed a day, unless you live in Jamaica Plain and your trash is picked up two times per week. There will be a regular collection schedule in Back Bay, Bay Village, Beacon Hill, Charlestown, Chinatown, Fenway, Leather District, Mission Hill, North End, Roxbury, and the South End.
