Man sentenced to life in prison for fatal beating of neighbor

A Boston man was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Monday for beating his 50-year-old neighbor to death with a baseball bat, according to the office of Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley. Cristian Rodriguez, 38, was convicted of first-degree murder in Suffolk Superior Court despite his claims that he was mentally ill and could not be held responsible for the February 2012 fatal beating of Roosevelt Harris at their Tremont Street residence, where they lived in adjacent rooms, Conley said. The pair had a history of quarreling about issues such as money and food missing from the home’s shared kitchen, according to Conley’s office.
