Federal prosecutors filed a motion in court Wednesday opposing the third request by Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s lawyers to relocate the Boston Marathon bombing trial outside of Boston.
Tsarnaev’s lawyers had argued last week that answers to a jury questionnaire meant to screen potential jurors for bias showed that a significant majority of people from Eastern Massachusetts have some connection to the bombing or presumption of Tsarnaev’s guilt.
But prosecutors said in their filing that the questionnaire is serving to properly weed out potential jurors, and that the court has been able to interview juror candidates who can remain impartial. The case is slated to continue with jury selection on Thursday.
