Greenfield man tracked, taken into custody in Florida

A Greenfield man was taken into custody at a bus station in Florida Tuesday evening after he allegedly removed a GPS tracking device while out of prison on bail, Massachusetts State Police said.

Local and state authorities tracked Derek Lecompte, 24, after he allegedly cut off the GPS bracelet and reportedly threatened that he “would not be taken alive,” State Police said in a statement.

Lecompte was in prison on charges of posing a child in the nude, withholding evidence, and resisting arrest, according to State Police

After an investigation conducted from Massachusetts, State Police worked with Florida authorities to locate Lecompte at a Greyhound bus station in Miami, where police took him into custody without incident, State Police said.
