A 43-year veteran of the Halifax Fire Department was killed and another person was seriously injured after a car crash in Plympton on Friday, authorities said.
Bruce Wood was an active member of the department and was also its chaplain, said Halifax Fire Chief Jason Viveiros.
At 2:24 p.m., a truck traveling northbound on Route 58 in Plympton drifted into the southbound lane, hitting another truck head-on, according to a statement from the Plympton Fire Department. Neither driver was identified because the crash is under investigation.
The driver of the truck traveling northbound was transported to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries, fire officials said. Wood was pronounced dead at the scene.
