Police investigate reports of indecent assaults near BU campus

Authorities were looking for a suspect after reports of three indecent assaults near the Boston University campus Monday night, officials said.

Three different reports, beginning at 4:30 p.m., described a man approaching women from behind and groping them, before fleeing, according to an e-mail alert by BU to students.

The first report was from near Ashford Street in Brighton, and the second two reports were from between 855 Commonwealth Ave. and the Boston University Bridge, the alert said.

The suspect in the attacks is described as a white male, 5-feet-9 with a thin build, very short hair, and wearing a blue–gray shirt and tan cargo shorts.

A similar case was reported over the weekend, the e-mail alert said. Police asked for the public to help provide information.
