Transit Police seek man for alleged lewd act on train platform

MBTA Transit Police are searching for a man who received oral sex on the platform of an Orange Line station, officials said.

The alleged incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. last Friday at State Street Station, Transit Police said in a statement.

Although there were about 20 people on the platform at that time, the majority did not witness the act, Transit Police spokesman Lieutenant Richard Sullivan said. One person took a photograph and sent it to police via social media.

Sullivan said it was the first time he had heard of such an incident.

"It's crazy. This is not a common occurrence," he said. "The MBTA is a very safe service."

If found, the man will be charged with open and gross lewdness. He could face up to three years in state prison and a $300 fine, Sullivan said.

Transit Police asked anyone with information on the man to call 617-222-1170. To remain anonymous, text the tip to 873873 or use the anonymous feature on the Transit Police's SeeSay app.
