Officials are investigating the cause of a three-alarm blaze that burned down a vacant condominium and started a brush fire in Needham.

The blaze destroyed one unit and scorched the vinyl siding off another at the condo complex on Greendale Avenue near Duncan Drive, Needham's fire chief, Dennis Condon, said Tuesday.

No one was injured, as both units were under construction at the time.

"Where it started was a vacant condo," Condon said.

The fire began at about 11 p.m. on Friday, and firefighters worked to put it out until about 10 a.m. Saturday, he said.

"Due to the wind, the fire got into brush between the complex and Route 128, too," he said.

"About an acre to two acres were affected."

Needham firefighters and the state fire marshal's office are investigating the cause.
