Firefighters extinguished a boat fire Tuesday afternoon in Gloucester. No injuries were reported.

Tyler caught fire at about 2 p.m., Gloucester Fire Lieutenant Daniel Kennedy said. He said there were at least four passengers, who were able to escape the boat safely at Harbor Loop.

The fire, he said, was confined to the engine room. It took about eight minutes, from the time firefighters arrived on the scene to when the fire was completely out, Kennedy said.

He said he couldn’t estimate the amount of damage the fire caused, but that the cause appeared to be accidental.
