The pilot of a small plane was seriously injured when his plane crashed in Laconia, N.H., Thursday morning, officials said.

The Piper PA22 aircraft crashed in a field on Hadley Road around 8:30 a.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. The pilot was the only person on board.

Firefighters extricated the pilot from the plane, and MedFlight took the pilot to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., according to the Laconia Fire Department.

Officials did not release any other information.
