The Cape and Islands district attorney and Sandwich police are investigating the unattended death of a teenager from Hingham at a summer camp in Sandwich, officials said. Neal J. Tompkins, 18, was found unresponsive in his bunk at Camp Burgess & Hayward on Wednesday, according to a statement from Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe. Tompkins was a counselor at the YMCA overnight camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 16, according to the camp’s website. Investigators do not suspect foul play, and they are awaiting results from a medical examiner, O’Keefe said.
