Police seek suspect after woman assaulted in Kendall Square

Police are encouraging women to take extra precautions after a woman was inappropriately touched by a man at Kendall Square station in Cambridge Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. while the woman, whose name was not released, was exiting the train station, according to a statement from Cambridge police. The man, who is described as a black male with a medium build and dreadlocks wearing a red shirt and black pants, approached the woman, and after a brief conversation, grabbed the woman’s buttocks. The woman yelled and punched the suspect in the face, and the man walked away, police said.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Cambridge Police Department at 617-349-3300.

Police encourage women to use extra precaution and avoid wearing earbuds or headphones while walking alone, and suggest walking with a friend or in a group if possible.
