Driver killed in crash with tractor trailer in Hopkinton

A New Hampshire man died Tuesday morning when his car collided with a tractor trailer on Interstate 495 in Hopkinton, officials said.

Marcel Masse, 53, of Lancaster, N.H., appeared to have crashed his 2012 Volkswagen Jetta into the back of the tractor trailer at about 6:06 a.m., State Police wrote on their website. State Police said the tractor trailer was traveling at “a relatively slow speed.”

The crash occurred before Exit 22, Hopkinton Fire Lieutenant Scott Jurasek said. The Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to remove Masse from his car.

He was taken to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, where he was pronounced dead, State Police said.

Jurasek said the driver of the tractor trailer, a 56-year-old Norton man, was shaken by the crash, but not injured.

The right lane of I-495 northbound was shut down while State Police investigated the crash, causing heavy traffic delays, Jurasek said. All lanes of I-495 reopened at about 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, according to State Police.
