Boston Police subdue man with BB gun

A Mattapan man was arrested after brandishing a BB gun on Roxbury Street Friday night, according to Boston police.

Gerard Moore, 20, was arrested and charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon and was issued a civil citation for possessing a pocket knife, Boston police said. Officers from the Boston Police School Unit were patrolling after a Madison Park High School football game at 8:10 p.m. when they saw a group of people arguing on Malcolm X Blvd in the area of Dudley Square Station, according to a police department account of the incident.

As officers turned onto Roxbury Street, they saw a man yelling at several people and holding what appeared to be a gun, according to police. The officers ordered the man to drop the gun, but he refused and said it was a BB gun.

Officers subdued the man and confirmed that the gun was in fact a BB gun, according to police. A knife was found on the ground underneath Moore, police said.
