Three people were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a building collapse during the construction of a Merrimac home, according to local police.
A second-floor wall of the home fell, crushing several workers, Police Chief Eric M. Shears said in a statement. Three were hospitalized, and a fourth had minor injuries. All are expected to survive.
Police and firefighters got a call about the incident around 1 p.m. The Merrimac building inspector and workplace regulators are investigating the incident and seeking to determine the cause.
"We are very hopeful for a full and speedy recovery for the injured workers," Shears said.
