A male victim was seriously injured after being struck by a Red Line train on Tuesday night at the Broadway MBTA stop in South Boston.
Transit police said in a statement that the victim, whose age was unknown, was hit shortly before 6:55 p.m. All riders were told to leave trains in the station after the incident occurred, the MBTA said.
The victim was extricated by Boston firefighters and taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, Transit police said. Shuttle bus service for riders was set up between the T's JFK and Park Street stations.
"Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident," the agency said.

The T said in a service alert at 8:05 p.m. that Red Line train service was resuming with "severe residual delays."
