Court-ordered recount in Revere mayor’s race

A court-ordered recount of more than 10,000 votes cast for mayor in the Nov. 3 general election will be held Monday and Tuesday, according to Revere Election Commissioner Diane R. Colella.

Mayor Dan Rizzo, who lost reelection by 118 votes to Councilor at Large Brian Arrigo, asked the court to intervene after the city’s election commission took no action on Nov. 23 on his request for a recount.

At 11 a.m. on Monday, in the city council chamber at City Hall, election workers will divide the ballots into blocks of 50.

The recount will begin on Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the field house at Revere High School. Each ballot will be hand counted, read aloud, and votes recorded, Colella said.
