Drone spotted in flight path of jet near Logan Airport

A drone was spotted near the flight path of a JetBlue plane on Friday as the aircraft came in for a landing at Logan International Airport, officials said.

The JetBlue crew reported seeing “an unmanned aircraft as it approached to land on Runway 22” at Logan around 12:15 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.

The crew reported that the drone was “one mile northeast of the airport at an altitude of 800 feet,” the statement said. The JetBlue flight landed safely, and the FAA notified State Police and will investigate, the federal agency said.

The incident Friday came one week after the crew of an Air Canada Express flight reported seeing a drone as their aircraft came in for its final approach at the same runway. That flight also landed safely.
