Home alarm alerts Brookline police to break-in

A home invasion on Dean Road in Brookline was thwarted by a house alarm Saturday night, police said.

Blood was found on the scene, leading police to believe the suspect fled after injuring himself, State Police trooper Matt McDevitt, said at the scene.

Brookline police wrote on its official Twitter account “Officers believe suspect cut themselves “ and were searching the premises with a dog.

The residents were not at home at the time, according to a tweet from the Brookline Police Department.

State Police responded just after 8 p.m. to assist Brookline Police. A K9 unit did a sweep of the area, but was unable to pick up a scent.
