The Duxbury fire department is urging drivers to use caution on icy roads, citing multiple crashes including a seven-car collision on Route 3 Monday afternoon.
Fire officials said units were called to Route 3 Monday due to reports of crashes in both the northbound and southbound lanes. The department tweeted that up to 20 vehicles were involved.
Trooper Paul Sullivan, a State Police spokesman, said a seven-car accident in the southbound lane was reported at 1:52 p.m.
A two-car spinout was reported at 2:20 in the same area, Sullivan said.
State police officials said many of the crashes resulted in minor damage as cars went off the road.

Duxbury fire officials said they did not know whether there were any injuries.
Pictures posted on the Internet by the fire department showed a dusting of snow on the roads, which fire officials said were very icy. Snowfall began around midday Monday.
“Always, if it’s snow-covered, avoid that area,” Sullivan said.
