<b>A look at Suffolk University’s Board of Trustees</b>

Members of Suffolk’s governing board have been thrust into the spotlight in a standoff with President Margaret McKenna, whose fate will be decided in a board vote set for Friday. Here’s a snapshot of the board:

Andrew C. Meyer Jr., board chairman. Member since 2001. Personal injury lawyer and co-founder of the law firm Lubin & Meyer. JD and honorary doctorate from Suffolk Law School. Meyer is among the board members who have publicly criticized McKenna for what they called a “confrontational” style and unauthorized spending they said could leave the school with a deficit for the first time in at least five years.


Carol S. Parks, vice chair. Member since 1986. President and CEO of Sawyer Enterprises, a real estate development company. Honorary doctorate of commercial science from Suffolk.

James T. Morris, board clerk. Member since 2006. Founding partner of law firm of Quinn and Morris. JD from Suffolk Law.

Roger Berkowitz. Member since 2011. President and CEO, Legal Seafoods.

John L. Books III. Member since 2011. President and CEO, Joslin Diabetes Center.

Irwin Chafetz. Member since 2002. Past president of The Interface Group-Massachusetts LLC. Honorary doctorate of commercial science from Suffolk.

Jeanette Clough. Member since 2011. President and CEO of Mt. Auburn Hospital. Honorary doctorate of business from Suffolk.

Daniel F. Conley. Member since 2011. Suffolk district attorney. JD from Suffolk Law.

Leo J. Corcoran. Member since 2006. Founder of Autumn Development Co. JD from Suffolk Law.

Dennis M. Duggan Jr. Member since 1993. President and CEO of Archbishop Williams High School, Braintree. JD from Suffolk Law.

John Fernandez. Member since 2011. President and CEO of Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Francis X. Flannery. Life trustee, member since 1970. Served as Suffolk vice president and treasurer for 46 years.

Jill Gabbe. Member since 2007. Partner and chief executive officer of gabbegroup. Bachelor’s from Suffolk.


Russell A. Gaudreau Jr. Member since 2005. Partner at the Wagner Group. JD from Suffolk Law.

David Hoberman. Member since 2011. Founder and partner of Mandeville Films and Television. Honorary doctorate of humanities from Suffolk.

William T. Hogan III. Member since 2002. Founder partner of law firm of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough. JD from Suffolk Law.

J. Robert Johnson. Member since 1991. Chairman and founder of Yankee Marketers Inc. BS in management and accounting and MBA from Suffolk.

Julie Kahn. Member since 2011. Executive vice president, Regan Communications Group.

Jessica Massey. Member since 2014. Associate general counsel for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. JD Suffolk Law.

John McDonnell. Member since 2012. Managing director of Tito’s Vodka International. BSBA degree from Suffolk. Said board members should be communicating behind closed doors.

Jennifer Nassour. Member since 2013. Former chair of the state Republican Party. Has said she felt blindsided by some member’s efforts to oust McKenna.
