With one of the strangest presidential primary campaigns in years underway, particularly on the Republican side, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will make a stop in Boston Thursday for a fund-raiser downtown.
“An Evening with Hillary Clinton” will take place at the The State Room, at 5 p.m., in support of the Hillary for America campaign.
Clinton is vying for the Democratic nomination with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Meanwhile, on the Republican side, brash front-runner Donald Trump has stirred turmoil in his party.
Trump’s habit of making controversial statements continued Wednesday when he suggested that women who get abortions should be punished if the procedure is ever banned. Clinton, joining a chorus of critics, said his statement was “horrific and telling.” Trump later retracted his statement.
Contribution prices to attend the event varied, with the most expensive ticket costing $10,000 and the cheapest costing $45. The latter, according to event organizers, sold out quickly this month.
Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker is scheduled to attend the event, according to an announcement on Clinton’s campaign website.
