The body of a first-year student at Bridgewater State University was found in a dorm room on Thursday, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney.

Kyle Bronstein, 18, of Sharon, was found unresponsive in Durgin Hall, District Attorney Timothy Cruz said in a statement. The circumstances around the death are not believed to be suspicious, he said.

University police received a 911 call from one of Bronstein's friends at 12:27 p.m, requesting a "well-being check," according to officials. Bronstein was transported to Brockton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Counselors are available to students and faculty, according to a statement by Bridgewater State University President Frederick W. Clark.

"My deepest sympathies are extended to our student's family and friends and to all members of the campus community," Clark said. "We have been in contact with the student's family and will continue to reach out in the difficult hours and days that lay ahead."

The incident is under investigation by university police and State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney.
