Timeline: Violence in Taunton leaves 2 dead

Crime scene tape was seen inside the Macy’s at the Silver City Galleria mall after a series of deadly attacks in Taunton Tuesday night.

Here’s a brief summary of what happened in Taunton Tuesday night, according to law enforcement officials:

— Arthur J. DaRosa leaves his child’s soccer practice and begins driving down Myricks Street shortly after 6 p.m.

— DaRosa crashes his car into a truck on Myricks Street.


— DaRosa exits the vehicle and enters a home at about 6:30 p.m. and stabs two women. One, an 80-year-old, is killed, while her adult daughter suffers life-threatening injuries.

—DaRosa then travels four miles to the Silver City Galleria mall, where he smashes his car into the entrance of a Macy’s store at about 6:40 p.m. He runs inside and assaults at least three women, who sustained injuries that were not life-threatening

—DaRosa runs into a Bertucci’s restaurant and arms himself, then stabs two more people. George A. Heath, a 56-year-old visual design instructor at New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School is killed. A waitress named Sheenah Savoy is injured.

—While he is still at Bertucci’s, DaRosa is shot by an off-duty Plymouth County sheriff’s deputy, James Creed.

— DaRosa is pronounced dead at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River at around 8 p.m.
