Overnight violence roiled the city in three separate incidents spanning one and a half hours, according to Boston police.
A 31-year-old man was shot and killed at 69 Astoria St. in Mattapan at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Officer Rachel McGuire of the Boston Police Department. She said the incident appeared to be a “barbecue gone awry,” and the police spoke to “dozens” of witnesses at the scene of the party
She said the the fatally shot man was dead on arrival. In addition, a second victim was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, according to Boston EMS Lieutenant Edward McCarthy.
A second shooting was reported at the intersection of Norfolk and Elizabeth streets in Dorchester, said McGuire. One person was taken from the scene with non life-threatening injuries.
Then, a third shooting occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Ellington and Fowler streets in Dorchester, said McGuire. Two people were injured, said McCarthy of Boston’s EMS.
McCarthy said one victim was taken to Boston Medical Center, while the other was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. McCarthy did not have details on their conditions as of Sunday morning.
All of the victims were male and none of the incidents appeared to be random, said McGuire of the Boston police.
