A Woburn man was arrested in New Hampshire Sunday on charges of driving a boat while drunk after he struck his cousin with a powerboat propeller while they were waterskiing, authorities said.
John Paul McComiskey was driving the powerboat on Baxter Lake about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Rochester when its propeller struck his cousin, Brian McComiskey, 38, and seriously injured his leg, according to a statement from New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol.
McComiskey pulled his cousin aboard the boat after the accident and drove to the Grandview Campground, where Rochester fire and rescue responders were waiting.
John Paul McComiskey was arrested for intoxicated boating, according to the statement. His cousin was airlifted to Maine Medical Center for treatment.
McComiskey will face a felony charge of boating while intoxicated because the accident caused serious bodily injury, police said.
